Rishabh Pant to replace Shikhar Dhawan in ICC world cup2019.




Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 due to a thumb injury in the win against Australia on 9 June. Rishabh Pant, who had been named as a cover for Shikhar Dhawan, has now been named as a permanent alternative. Despite the blow to the thumb in opposition to Australia, Dhawan persisted to bat and score 117 runs.

Shikhar Dhawan initially ruled out for two. Since the win in opposition to Australia, India turned into scheduled to play New Zealand, which turned into washed out, and Pakistan, where KL Rahul opened the innings along with Rohit Sharma. BCCI put out a statement on Twitter, "Shikhar Dhawan has been diagnosed with a fracture of the first metacarpal on his left hand following a ball impact injury during the team’s first match versus Australia at the Oval on 5th June 2019. Following several specialists opinions, he will remain in a cast until the middle of July and therefore will not be available for the remainder of #CWC19."

The injury took place when he was facing India's second match of the World Cup, at The Oval. Dhawan carried on batting and scored a century, which made him the Man of the Match award as India received with the aid of 36 runs. However, he did not field in the Australia innings.
