India beat Bangladesh by 28 runs on 2nd
July. A target of 315 was very tough but Bangladesh, who managed 286 in 48
overs. Rohit Sharma appeared in breathtaking touch and taken up his 3rd
successive hundred towards Bangladesh in an ICC match.
After beating Bangladesh on Tuesday, India has certified for the semi-finals of the
World Cup 2019, it will likely be the third successive semi-final look for
India in World Cups.
It's also
the seventh time in 12 versions of the World Cup that India has reached the
semis - 1983, 1987, 1996, 2003, 2011, and 2015 being the other times. Notably,
India has prevailed in 3 out of the 7 semi-final appearances at the same time
as taking place to win the title two times.
Comparing India's success with the alternative
teams, one reveals Australia being the only side to have had an extra semi-final
qualifications - eight times and New Zealand tying India with 7.
Bangladesh will next take on Pakistan on 5th
July and India will subsequently play Sri Lanka on July 6 of their final league the game before playing in the semi-finals.
Pakistan needs New Zealand to
beat England and then they want to beat Bangladesh to attain the semi-finals.
The last match of the league will determine which team tops the table. If
Australia beat South Africa of their last match they may be on they will be on
top with 16 points; but, if India beat Sri Lanka and Australia lose their
match, India will be on top with 15 points.
