Jonty Rhodes Applies For Indian Cricket Teams Fielding Coach Position.

Former Cricketer from South Africa Jonty Rhodes has applied for the role of India's fielding coach. He is undoubtedly one of his biggest names who applied for the job, following the invitation from the Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI).

With the famous run out of Inzamam-ul-Haq during the 1992 World Cup, Rhodes changed the idea of fielding in world cricket. Previously for nine seasons, he had worked as Mumbai Indians fielding coach.

"Yes, Rhodes has applied, while it's true that he hasn't trained any international team, he has spent nine seasons with Mumbai Indians and you have to work with the IPL team for three seasons, if not an international team according to qualifying requirements," the functionary said.

Rhodes, after applying, stated, "Yes, I have applied for the new coach in India. My wife and I love the country, and it gave us so much — we have two children born in India.”

Ramakrishnan Sridhar is the current fielding coach of the Indian national cricket team. Indian support staff was extended for 45 days after their contracts were finished in Wales and England during the World Cup 2019.
